Plant #SeedsForJustice with UUJMCA.
2020 has demanded so much of all of us as individuals and communities, people of faith, and co-creators of justice. And yet, in the midst of such a challenging year, there is an undeniable, sacred, prophetic, and simple truth that we have faithfully returned to and embodied.
We Are Not Alone.
This year, you and your UU Justice Ministry of California found new ways to connect communities, from statewide UU the Vote phonebanks, to our weeklong 2020 Turning the Tides Justice Leadership Summit, to our monthly justice vespers services - we created communities to nourish our spirits and sustain our work for justice in California and the nation.
We Are Stronger Together.
This year, you and your UU Justice Ministry of California found new ways to collaborate for justice, from online Community Action Circles, to our record turnout for the online 2020 Immigrant Day of Action, to the safe in-person statewide banner drops and online "Twitterstorms" calling on Gov. Newsom to #FreeThemAll - we partnered on prophetic actions to promote justice for all Californians.
We Get Free As One.
This year, you and your UU Justice Ministry of California recommitted to the responsibilities of collective liberation, from answering and uplifting the sacred call to abolish prisons and policing in our policy advocacy, to rooting our environmental justice organizing in the call to dismantle structures of colonization and white supremacy that have dehumanized indigenous communities & cultures for centuries - we deepened our theological, economic, and practical commitment to the interdependent web of life and liberation.
We Carry These Truths Forward.
And next year, your UU Justice Ministry of California is focusing our efforts on building up networks that sustain your faithful work in the state, including monthly “Issue Collectives” and “Cluster Calls” to connect justice makers across communities with local and statewide organizers. We will also be offering a variety of online faith-rooted educational opportunities to deepen and strengthen your engagement with liberation movements in California. justice-making, including an “online UU-Borders” opportunity for March of 2021, as part of our ongoing partnership with the GaryMar Academy in Tijuana.
You Make This Ministry Possible.
As we close out 2020, we are inviting you to plant #SeedsForJustice with your UU Justice Ministry of California. Whatever financial contribution you make will help us connect communities, collaborate on justice, and co-create collective liberation. This holiday season, as you are considering where you want to make your end-of-year financial gifts, plant #SeedsForJustice in California with a tax-deductible donation to UUJMCA.
