"Learning to organize community action makes me feel empowered to challenge injustices that I see. I know the power I have, and I will use it for the rest of my life."

"SALT has inspired me to think of myself as a spiritual activist and introduced me to a host of wonderful spiritual activist role models, including my peers in the program."

What is UUJMCA's SALT Program?
Spiritual Activists Leading Together
UUJMCA's Spiritual Activists and Leaders Together (SALT) program trains, empowers, connects and releases the potential of Unitarian Universalist & UU-aligned young adult justice leaders.
Through the development of concrete justice and organizing skills, faith development, spiritual deepening and community building, our “SALT Fellows” engage with justice history and its current leaders and movements. This nine-month, part-time, non-residential program includes occasional weekend travel for California justice journeys, retreats, theological reflection circles and support calls, activist projects, and a monthly on-line training video-conference. SALT is open to UU & UU-aligned young adults in or out of school and is also designed to be accessible to those who are working and/or with families.
What does my donation support?
By donating to UUJMCA's SALT program, you support our capacity to make this program financially accessible to any UU/UU-aligned young adult who is interested in participating. Your donation goes towards UUJMCA's efforts to cover the travel, lodging, and communications costs of SALT Fellows in our program, in addition to fairly compensating our SALT Program Coordinator for their work in organizing the logistics and content of our programming. Your donation also helps UUJMCA provide payment/donations to our partner justice organizations who host/facilitate trainings & webinars, so that their emotional, physical, and intellectual labor does not go uncompensated.
Beyond these "tangible" effects, your donation makes a significant impact in ensuring that UU young adults are able to fully live out our faith's principles and values in the world. Your support of this program promotes the ministry of healing, love, and collective liberation that Unitarian Universalism has at its core. By giving today, tomorrow, once, and/or monthly, your tax-deductible gift strengthens current and future leaders in their efforts to transform the world into one where the worth and dignity of all creation is respected, celebrated, and loved.
Your support, whatever size and frequency, makes a difference. Thank you!

"I've learned how to relate my spiritual values to my social justice concerns. Grounding my activism in my faith has helped me become more comfortable with both. Whereas I used to identify as 'spiritual but not religious,' I now identify as a 'person of faith' and feel like my values have a united spiritual core. I feel unshakable--like operating from this place of peace, love, and hope will sustain me when the going is slow or when I encounter differences of opinion."
The Unitarian Universalist Justice Ministry of California is a tax-exempt non-profit organization, under the section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and therefore all charitable donations are deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
