Dear Friend,

We are looking forward to 2022 with new programs and training to help advance justice across California! We hope that you will join us!

In 2022 we will be developing new Youth & Young Adult programming, community based organizing and training, and creating a space that deeply centers the marginalized in and around our communities.

If you have not already done so, please read this message from Rev Dr Betty Stapleford on behalf of our Board of Trustees.

2021 Letter of Hope for Justice in 2022!

As Unitarian Universalists, we have a history that has proven; when our youth lead ~ we succeed! In 2022, we will be centering on developing an engaging youth ministry program called the Arc Benders. This program will give our youth a voice in all levels of UUJMCA ministry, leadership, and programming.

We are looking forward to an exciting 2022 with our community as we engage high school-age UU Youth in Justice ministries across the State of California at both the local and state levels by creating intentional space for our youth involvement. We will be developing Arc Benders - Justice Youth Ministry.

Through this program, we will be developing faith-based and spiritually centered youth programs including worship that centers marginalized peoples, leadership opportunities for youth within UUJMCA, and most importantly address the needs of our youth in a way that inspires them to develop their own call to justice ministry in California as Unitarian Universalists.

We recognize that our California UU congregations and communities do not all have the same justice needs or priorities, therefore over the next few months, you will be hearing from us in a variety of ways as we solicit your feedback and ask for your input.

In 2022, we will be launching a new UUJMCA Covenanting Community campaign. Our program invites our California UU communities and congregations into an intentional relationship to strengthen our ministries of social transformation. By strengthening our connections to each other, our partners, and our collective imagination for California.

Through this program, we will work toward supporting the justice ministry, goals, and needs of our UU congregations and their local communities. We are currently meeting, engaging, and interfacing with congregational leaders and community partners to reintroduce ourselves as not only justice leaders in California but also justice servants in support of our congregations. Together we can create a more equitable California for all.

Our border trips are experiential learning experiences that provide an opportunity to witness the effect of US Immigration policies from the other side of the border, deepen your faith connection to issues and efforts around immigration justice, and connect with individuals and communities directly impacted by our broken immigration system.

Participants visit with several groups providing support to deportees, attend a bi-national worship service on the border, meet with community organizers in Tijuana, share in faith development around immigration, and learn what we can do as social justice makers and faith activists when we return home.

In 2021 we continued our Border trips in partnership with Via International and UURise in a new virtual format. These trips included connections with leadership and people who are working and living at the US (California) and Mexico Border. We are currently working on plans for our next virtual trip in the Spring of 2022. Learn More.
